Incorporating shade protection in playgrounds is essential to protect children and adults from the damage caused by the sun’s ultraviolet rays, prevent the playgrounds from heating up and maximize the useful life of the equipment. However, there may still be a belief that shades are not necessary for playgrounds, so let’s disprove three myths about the use of this equipment.

The heat does not affect children while playing

Sunny days can be the most fun for playing outside and visiting parks. However, the children can be affected by heat stroke or exhaustion and insolation, which can cause reddening of the skin, dehydration, accelerated breathing and heart rate, vertigo, dizziness, confusion, and even loss of consciousness.

These all happen by sun exposure or exertion in hot weather, and because kids are going to be having fun, they may not be aware of the primary symptoms. Including shade protection helps decrease heat in spaces, keeping them several degrees cooler while children stay active without overheating.

Shades of playgrounds also serve as UV protection, allowing children to play safely without risk of the harmful effects of UV rays; having the shade protection of playgrounds provides higher SPF protection than hats and caps.

It has nothing to do with the park teams

Children can be easily injured if they come into contact with playground surfaces that have been exposed to the sun for a long time, they can easily get injured. The use of shade protection prevents children from getting burned due to prolonged exposure to the sun from the playground elements. It also protects the equipment itself from discoloration and cracking, increasing the useful life of the playground.

They are not aesthetic or functional

Shade protection for playgrounds can be totally or partially, of different sizes and colors, in such a way that they can be combined and mixed to harmoniously incorporate them into the play space in an elegant and fun way. In addition, it can be included in specific areas or cover the entire extension of the territory, so the options in style and design are endless.
