Spinners add value to playgrounds by being one of the children’s favorite games where excitement, adrenaline, and speed are the order of the day to offer children a fantastic experience. The spins and twists always attract the attention of children and create group excitement; however, it could be thought that they are dangerous because of the type of movement they make or that the child runs some risk in general; therefore, in this article, four myths about the use of spinners in playgrounds are going to be disproved.

They are all the same

When thinking about spinners, the image of the spinning wheel fixed to the floor, the classic model of any playground, may come to mind. However, designs have been modernized over the years, and different models of spinners have been created, both for individual use and for use by several children, standing, sitting, or holding hands, even inclusive designs for children with special needs.

They are not safe

The design of the spinners is subjected to different tests to ensure the safety of the child when playing on them, in addition to being classified according to age ranges so that the grips, heights, and other components are suitable according to the ergonomics of children; additionally, the equipment is designed to rotate at a safe speed, where children are not at risk of getting hurt.

Children’s safety must always be a priority; therefore, it must be ensured that the design, selection, installation, and maintenance of both spinners and playgrounds in general, must be carried out by an expert in the area, with recognized knowledge in the field, so you should always go to professionals to ensure the best products according to the needs of the project.

They are not versatile

Spinners are an excellent option in playgrounds since they are beautiful interactive pieces for children and can be used individually or as part of a play system. In addition, they can be installed in huts so that children can use them during their rest hours, as part of public or private playgrounds, in shopping malls, or even in homes since they exist in different dimensions and particular characteristics that adjust to the user’s requirements.

They do not contribute anything to children

Many people think white Spinners only have the function of spinning and do not provide any additional benefit to children apart from fun. However, spinners allow better development of balance, fine motor skills, spatial awareness, stability, proprioception, depth perception, grip strength, understanding of cause and effect, help the vestibular system, sensory development, agility, cooperation, problem-solving, teach collaborative play, among many other physical and psychosocial benefits.
